PEOPLE BIG NEWS. This Waiting on Wednesday is a book I can actually be seen in public with! WHAT!?! Look at that non-embarrassing cover. Not to mention Unspoken by Sarah Rees Brennan, due out this fall, sounds awesome. Secrets, paranormal talents, and unrequited romance. Done and done.
Kami Glass loves someone she’s never met . . . a boy she’s talked to in her head ever since she was born. She wasn’t silent about her imaginary friend during her childhood, and is thus a bit of an outsider in her sleepy English town of Sorry-in-the-Vale. Still, Kami hasn’t suffered too much from not fitting in. She has a best friend, runs the school newspaper, and is only occasionally caught talking to herself. Her life is in order, just the way she likes it, despite the voice in her head.
But all that changes when the Lynburns return.
The Lynburn family has owned the spectacular and sinister manor that overlooks Sorry-in-the-Vale for centuries. The mysterious twin sisters who abandoned their ancestral home a generation ago are back, along with their teenage sons, Jared and Ash, one of whom is eerily familiar to Kami. Kami is not one to shy away from the unknown—in fact, she’s determined to find answers for all the questions Sorry-in-the-Vale is suddenly posing. Who is responsible for the bloody deeds in the depths of the woods? What is her own mother hiding? And now that her imaginary friend has become a real boy, does she still love him? Does she hate him? Can she trust him? (Good Reads)
As always, a shout out to Breaking the Spine for hosting Waiting on Wednesday, a weekly meme that highlights upcoming releases. And I THINK I owe a cheers of my whiskey sour to the great Fake Steph Dot Com for having first featured this read. Steph, is this true? If not, I am still giving you credit, since I always get great ideas from your TBR :-).
I am so excited for this one, I have heard some really good things about it and I really wanna check it out! Awesome choice!

LOL at 'a book I can actually be seen in public with'!! Too true, especially among YA covers these days! That cover is lovely and definitely worthy of public outings. Love the dark vibe I'm getting from the summary! Great pick, Grad Student!
ReplyDeleteHAHAHAH YES GIVE ME ALL THE CREDIT. Although, I'm not sure I featured this one... yet. I try to only feature books I've pre-ordered, BUT I LOVE Sarah Rees Brennan and am PSYCHED for this one. Her Demon's Lexicon Trilogy is some seriously good fantasy.
ReplyDeleteSteph I dont know the Demon Lexicon, but am looking into it right away!
DeleteI can't wait to read this either! the cover is gorgeous and that is one interesting premise. I'be been hearing good things about this book already. :) Great pick!

I know exactly what you mean! When I was a kid and started reading YA (especially fantasy), I was mortified at some of the cover art on even my favorite books. If I had to leave a book lying around, it always went face down so my mom couldn't see the picture. Besides having a pretty cover, this book sounds awesome. It's going on my list!
ReplyDeleteThis is my WoW as well! Great choice :)
