Waiting on Wednesday: The Casual Vacancy by J. K. Rowling

aka, Going to the source for Harry Potter-ness (as dictated to Grad Student by Goosie Mama)

Pre-4th of July Waiting on Wednesday! ( Because we all will be eating watermelon and basking in a day off tomorrow!)

When Barry Fairweather dies unexpectedly in his early forties, the little town of Pagford is left in shock. Pagford is, seemingly, an English idyll, with a cobbled market square and an ancient abbey, but what lies behind the pretty fa├žade is a town at war. Rich at war with poor, teenagers at war with their parents, wives at war with their husbands, teachers at war with their pupils...Pagford is not what it first seems. And the empty seat left by Barry on the parish council soon becomes the catalyst for the biggest war the town has yet seen. Who will triumph in an election fraught with passion, duplicity and unexpected revelations?

"I cannot wait for J.K. Rowling's new book The casual Vacancy (Sept 27). Will obvi score a 10 out of 10 on the Harry Potterness scale" - Goosie Mama

Update- Crazy Camper here added the cover- though she is on the fence as well about it...

  1. DUDE Me too! Have you seen the cover? I'm not in love with it, but I am still beyond excited for this book!

    1. I AGREE! I added it, for you, but this cover would not be a winner for me either.

  2. JK anticipation is HIGH. This does not sound like something I would usually read but here is hoping it is made of awesome.

  3. Even though I do not think it will compare to Harry Potter I am keeping my mind open when I read it! I am excited for it (:

  5. Okay, well I'm obviously waiting on this one too :) I don't really know what to make of the synopsis, title, and cover, but I suspect there's a reason why they were chosen to be a bit on the bland side.

Comments? Heck ya!
