Top Ten Tuesday: Luuuvvvvvvv Interests

Hellllloooooooooooooo book bloggers! It is Tuesday again. That means its Top Ten Tuesday hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week's TTT is dedicated to our fav hunky male love interests. Now, we love a good romance. (Remember the time I word-searched for kisses on my Nook? It happened. I needed to know I could depend on some budding romance in my read). Here we go!

Is that Tim Riggins cast by fans as Dimitri? 

Crazy Camper:

• Hunter from Mystic City by Theo Lawrence. He is dark and mysterious while at once FULL of emotions. My kind of guy.
• Augustus Waters from The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. Always and forever. I am anxious to see who they cast for the movie version of this book!
• Dimitri from the Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead. Preferably before he becomes a vampire/post-vampire moody goon.

Grad Student:

• Ben from Texas Gothic by Rosemary Clement-Moore. "hot neighbor cowboy" ENOUGH SAID.
• Tucker from the Unearthly series by Cynthia Hand. Again, he is a cowboy. I love country music, and I particularly love country music in the summer, so this tendency should come as no surprise as I look forward to spring and summer.
• Kaleb from the Hourglass series by Myra McEntire. He likes to cook, knows he is a slice of sexy, and has tattoos for extra appeal. 
• George Cooper from The Lioness Quartet by Tamora Pierce. THE ORIGINAL roguish charmer.
• The Hudson Boys from Soul Screamers series by Rachel Vincent. Both Nash and Todd have made me swoon, and I still don't know who I love best.
• Sean from The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvadter. I like how he is the strong silent type.

Top Ten Tuesday: So This is Love

Today’s TTT hosted by the Broke and the Bookish is dedicated to Book Romances That You Think Would Make It In The Real World (aka outside the book). Here at YAF & WS we are suckers for romance, but stand firm against insta-love and teenage angst. In the words of the awesome Maggie Stiefvater, who makes some of the best couples out there: “Many, many readers have written asking me wistfully about the nature of Sam and Grace's relationship, and I can assure you, that sort is absolutely real. Mutual, respectful, enduring love is completely attainable as long as you swear you won't settle for less.”  

We think these couples would make the cut.

Crazy Camper

• Lissa and Christian from Vampire Academy. (Crazy Camper is on a BINGE- GS) Reviews coming soon.
• Sookie and Eric (NOTE NOT BILL) from Charlaine Harris's Southern Vampire series. Pretty much because brainwashed Eric was the cutest thing ever. (And Sookie deserves a good guy- GS)
• Alanna and George- The Song of the Lioness Quartet by Tamora Pierce. Remember when my college friend and I were making analogies to her new relationship and the Alanna/George/Jonathon love triangle? Well, she and he were Alanna and George, and it is working! 

Grad Student

• Taylor Markham and Jonah Griggs from Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta.  This story and their romance is breathtakingly realistic.
• Cole and Isabel from Forever the last of Maggie Stiefvater’s Shiver Trilogy. If you don’t swoon over those two, particularly that last set of voicemails/call, YOUR HEART IS MISSING and you should go out and find it.
• Cinder and Kai from Cinder by Marissa Meyer. Mutual respect is a good thing.

 …and in a better world... (SIGH)

• Humberto and Elisa from Rae Carson’s The Girl of Fire and Thorns. Humberto’s last line. He completely believes in the girl he loves.
• Tuck and Clara  from the Unearthly series by Cynthia Hand. I love them together: “'Your hair smells like wind, did you know that?'  Yep, me and Tucker, smelling each other.” 
• Augustus Waters and Hazel Grace from John Green's The Fault in Our Stars.  Potentially one of the most powerful book relationships ever.

Top Ten Tuesday: Books That Were Totally Deceiving

The Broke and the Bookish host this list-mania meme dedicated to sharing read lists. We love it! This week is Top Ten Books That WereTotally Deceiving-- Someof theses titles and covers seem to have been free-associated, and others were not what we were expecting (sometimes to good effect, other times, not so much).

The Cover Works Against the Book

1. The Fallen Series by Lauren Kate. Is Luce lost on some forested island where all she has is a suitcase of goth prom dresses!?! How does this relate to anything even remotely related to angels!?!

2. The Unearthly series by Cynthia Hand. Girl in a Dress is not my favorite genre. But these books are, happily, much better than their covers.The second book Hallowed in particular was moving story about loss and family, and you have no idea looking at the cover.

3. Jealousy from the Strange Angels series by Lili St. Crow. PEOPLE you need to read these books. Dru is so kick-ass it is not even funny. People get beat up, betrayed, hunted by zombies and vampires, etc. But this title, and the picture for the third book in the series. Blech. It looks like some third-rate romance novel.

Expecting a Zig and Getting a Zag

4. The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman. I thought this book was going to be a bit too young and preciousfor my taste, but was I wrong. It is sweet, smart, and touching. I nearly choked up at the end! Whoknew, coming from a kid's book that starts with a triple-homicide.

5. Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter by Seth Grahame-Smith. I thought this was going to be a send-up,since the author had also written Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, which looked beyond silly. But I was  scared.GULP.

6. Swamplanda! by Karen Russell. (review!) Goosie Mama,expecting YA fiction, was surprised by the tone and subject matter of this book. The cute cartoon and exclamation mark would draw me to the wrong conclusions as well.

Books I Put On Hold at the Library But Have Waited So Long For I Can't Remember What They Are About and Thus Am Off-Base in What I Expect* (*This is an ebook issue because of a lack of book blurbs).

7. Incarceron, by Catherine Fisher. I thought,for some reason, there would be more romance involved in this. 30 pages in, I actually used the search capability of my Nook for 'kiss'. Embarrassing?Yes. Then when no kisses turned up, I was all "WHAAATTT" and stopped reading. I wanted some romance--so sue me!**
